1. The teachings of Jesus (the red letters)

2 John 1:9-11 KJVR
(9) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
(10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed:
(11) For he that biddeth him Godspeed is partaker of his evil deeds.

2. Believing His word (what He said) and that the Father sent Him is essential to salvation.

John 5:24 KJVR
(24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

3. The Father sent the Son

John 3:16-18 KJVR
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
(18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God

4. Believing that the Father sent the Son involves not only the fact of Jesus being sent, but also the fact that He was sent to us to speak the words of the Father.

John 14:24 KJVR
(24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

The words that Jesus spoke were the words of God the Father. That is why Jesus is called “The Word”.

John 14:10 KJVR
(10) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

5. “The Word” is coming back and when He does He will be saying the same things that He said when He was on the earth.

John 1:1 KJVR
(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 KJVR
(14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Revelation 19:11-13 KJVR
(11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
(12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
(13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

Hebrews 13:8 KJVR
(8) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

6. When we stand before God to be judged, we will be judged on the standard of whether we have believed and obeyed Jesus words, because they were the express words of God the Father.

John 12:47-49 KJVR
(47) And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
(48) He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
(49) For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

7. Love for Jesus is defined explicitly by Jesus himself as “keeping His words”. No one can truly claim to love God if they do not believe and obey Jesus’ words (the red letters).

John 14:21-24 KJVR
(21) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
(22) Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
(23) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
(24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

8. No one can claim to be serving God properly or discipling converts correctly unless they are teaching them the doctrine of Christ “all things whatsoever I have commanded you” (the red letters). This is what Jesus said the great commission is.

Matthew 28:18-20 KJVR
(18) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
(19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
(20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

9. The Holy Ghost teaches us by taking us back to the words of Jesus.

1 John 2:27 KJVR
(27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

John 14:26 KJVR
(26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

10. I believe the things that have been put forth so far of Jesus words, and what has been said about them is so clear that it would be difficult for someone that is a Christian, and has a rational mind, to disagree with what has been stated so far. But, is this what the American church is doing? Are they really following Jesus, or are they following other things like the religious people of Jesus’ day were doing?

John 8:40-47 KJVR
(40) But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
(41) Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
(42) Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
(43) Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
(44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
(45) And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
(46) Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
(47) He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

11. There are serious consequences for people that choose to follow man instead of Jesus’ words. We have already seen that this is how we will be judged I the last judgement. And these words of Jesus should also be considered.

Mark 8:38 KJVR
(38) Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

12. Peter knew that only the words of Jesus were truth. There was no one else to turn to.

John 6:66-68 KJVR
(66) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
(67) Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
(68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

Is the church today following Jesus, or someone else?

13. The majority of American Evangelical Christians believe that once a person is saved, salvation can never be lost, but is that what Jesus taught?

Luke 12:42-46 KJVR
(42) And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
(43) Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
(44) Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
(45) But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
(46) The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

What do you believe?

14. The majority of American evangelicals believe that the Lord will take them out of the world seven years before He judges the unsaved in a secret pre-tribulation Rapture. But, is this what Jesus taught?

Matthew 13:49-50 KJVR
(49) So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
(50) And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

What do you believe?

15. Who did Jesus say would be taken out first in the last days, the saved or the unsaved?

Matthew 13:30 KJVR
(30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

What do you believe?

16. Did Jesus teach that it was His will to take Christians out of the world so that they would not have to face evil?

John 17:15 KJVR
(15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.[bold added]

What do you believe?

17. Did Jesus teach that He would return before or after the tribulation?

Matthew 24:29-31 KJVR
(29) Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
(30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
(31) And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

What do you believe?

18. The church needs to repent and make Jesus the Head of the church once again. Those that repent and keep His words have his promise that they will never die.

John 8:51 KJVR
(51) Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
