Importance of the Name of Jesus PDF of this article.

David Carrico calls Him Jesus because that is His name. The name, Jesus, occurs 940 times in the Christian New Testament Scriptures.

There is such a need in this world for the truth about so many issues and we try to do all we can to present what we know and understand. And you may be among the few who have chosen not to follow our teachings, and for that, it grieves us that we have not been able to explain our beliefs to help you to understand why we believe as we do.

I am often reminded of these Scriptures.

1 Peter 3:15-18
(15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
(16) Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
(17) For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
(18) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

This argument about His name is meant to divide the body of Christ. Doesn’t that sound like something the Devil would do?

Here is David’s answer when our listeners ask why he prefers to use the name JESUS, and my own answer in depth is contained in this article.

“The KJV has the name Jesus because it is a translation from the Greek to the English. The New Testament was not originally written in Hebrew as the Hebrew rooters claim. The foundational lie of the Hebrew Roots movement is that the name of God is lost in the KJV. This is a huge lie. Mr. Rood promotes Nehemiah Gordon fraudulent Hebrew Matthew and promotes the theories of Christ rejecting Rabbis. The KJV is a translation from Greek to English, not Greek to Hebrew – it is really very simple. Its one of the foundational Kabbalist ideas that to say Hebrew words makes you holy and gives a person a boost of pride.”

There have been many programs where both David and Jon have taken time to address this issue, so to break it down as I see it, it says in this passage below, that His name shall be called “Jesus”.

Matthew 1:21-25
(21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
(22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
(23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
(24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
(25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

In the Greek “Jesus” means:

G2424 ???s???? Ie̅sous ee-ay-sooce’
Of Hebrew origin [H3091]; Jesus (that is, Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites: – Jesus.

What follows here in this article are just a few of the 940 times in the properly translated King James Bible where the name of Jesus is contained. I chose these because of the importance the passages gave to the name of Jesus. Please read them with me and ask the Lord to hide them in your heart.

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

Matthew 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Mark 14:61-63
(61) But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
(62) And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
(63) Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?

(21) And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

(39) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
(40) And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
(41) Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Acts 4:10
(10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Acts 19:17
(17) And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

Are you beginning to see the importance of using the Name of Jesus?

Ephesians 5:20
(20) Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Philippians 2:10-12
(10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
(11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

1 John 3:23

And there was a time when he told his disciples this for a certain reason and time in his life.

(20) Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

Even Pilate called Him, Jesus.

Matthew 27:22
(22) Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

Jesus” is His name. Even in the book of Revelation, the author, John, it is still calling Him, Jesus.

Revelation 1:1
(1) The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

In a red letter Bible these words are attributed to Jesus.

Revelation 1:8-11
(8) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
(9) I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
(10) I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
(11) Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

(19) Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

As previously said, This argument about His name is meant to divide the body of Christ. Doesn’t that sound like something the Devil would do? One problem is that many sincere people have made using a certain name to represent the Messiah a condition for salvation.

Many who use Yeshua do so because of traditions of other believers. If you prefer to use Yeshua, it is not a sin, or a matter of salvation, but it does not make you sound smarter. It usually helps identify you as a Messsianic/Hebrew Roots/Torah Observant believer. Perhaps it would be better if you were identified as a follower of Jesus.

We have become aware of many false teachings in these groups who are even denying Jesus as the real Messiah and leading people into the Jewish mystic teachings of the Kabala. We have discovered that there seems to be a pattern that is leading believers into false teachings we have tried to warn our listeners about the many translations that change the text because they are translated from the wrong source. We are constantly teaching about those errors, and helping people to get set free from those false teachings. Therefore, we prefer to call His name, Jesus, but there will be sometimes when David will say Yeshua, too, in some teachings.

David says that what is happening is that some people start by questioning if the KJV Bible was translated from the proper text. Then they get people to read some apostate translations who insert other names in their text translations. Then what is obvious to us, is that Pride comes into some very honest and well meaning individuals, and they begin to think how smart they sound that they can speak a Hebrew name of Jesus and they know so much more than other believers. Then they begin to judge other believers and make some new laws and insist that a person needs to always use the Hebrew name of Jesus to be accepted. You truly are not able to find that in any Bible unless they have changed the translation. If you are guilty of passing such judgement on fellow believers, then repent and pray for Father God to renew your mind with the right understanding.

If you are using a Bible that calls him Yeshua, then you should go back to the good old King James Version that correctly calls Him, Jesus. The name Yeshua is not in the King James Bible. The name YAH or Yeshua is not even in the properly translated KJV Bible.

“The Hebrew name of Jesus is probably pronounced Yeshua?, although this is uncertain and depends on the reconstruction of several ancient Hebrew dialects. Talshir suggests, even though Galileans tended to keep the traditional spelling for Yehoshua? ??????? with waw for /o/, they still pronounced the name similarly to the Judeans, as ‘Yeshua’ [je’?ua?], who tended to spell the name phonetically as ?????, perhaps reducing the name thus: [j?ho’?ua?] > [jo’?ua?] > [je’?ua?], with the /o/ palatalizing (via dissimilation) before the /?/.” ( Talshir 1998:374,376.)

“Yeshua in Hebrew is a verbal derivative from “to rescue”, “to deliver”.[10] Among the Jews of the Second Temple period, the Biblical Aramaic/Hebrew name ????????? Yešua? was common: the Hebrew Bible mentions several individuals with this name – while also using their full name Joshua. This name is a feature of biblical books written in the post-Exilic period (Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles) and was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, though Haggai and Zechariah prefer the spelling Joshua. Strong’s Concordance connects the name ????????? Yešua?, in the English form Jeshua (as used in multiple instances in Ezra, Nehemiah, and 1 and 2 Chronicles), with the verb “to deliver” (or, “to rescue”).[10] It is often translated as “He saves,” to conform with Matthew 1:21:” (“The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible (Nashville: Thomas Nelson Publishers 1990)

Just in those two quotes above you can see the confusion it brings when you deviate from the true translation of the Greek name, Jesus. Many of the Hebrew type movements have done a great damage to the body of Christ by causing division.

One more important fact. We teach that when Jesus is God. Here are just a few scriptures that affirm this. Jesus and God are one! David offers a teaching on the Godhead (#3) in our Online Bible School if you want more study. However, just a few scriptures prove it.

John 10:30
(30) I and my Father are one.

John 17:11
(11) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

John 1:18
(18) No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

It is so important to us that David has done 5 seasons so far examining the Doctrine of Jesus Christ. That link will take you to all of those teachings that are available. In order for you to abide with the Father, you need to abide in the Doctrine of Christ. The following passage reinforces that importance.

2 John 1:9-11
(9) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
(10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him Godspeed:
(11) For he that biddeth him Godspeed is partaker of his evil deeds.

If you are using a Bible that calls him Yeshua, then you should go back to the good old King James Version that correctly calls Him, Jesus. We have a Play list that explains just a few of the dangers of these apostate Translation Problems.

We pray that you will continue to listen to our teachings and search for the truth. We implore you to research more, if I have not convinced you how important the name of Jesus is. We have never claimed perfection, as we are only humans doing the best we can to bring others into a relationship with our Lord and we are willing to give our lives if needed to give our testimony of what he has taught us.

So, we, David, Jon, and myself will stand before our Lord Jesus and speak His name without shame or remorse. If we would by choice or by old habits call Him by another name in private, that has nothing to do with you, but is also between us and our heavenly Father.

If you or others decide that you have to use, Yeshua, or many of the other names, that is between you and Father God. We pray that you will continue to listen to our teachings and search for the truth.
